33 Live: Fighting For Our Hearts

Service on the night of January 6th was another example of when God takes our good ideas for an evening, sets them on fire, consumes them, and brings them forth as gold.  The atmosphere sparked while the Hoppers led the students into worship…and everything burned from that point on.  God seemed to be using the corporate gathering to speak to individuals on a personal level.  Before long, one of our very own forerunners rose to the occasion and got up the guts to speak out the things that He was speaking to her.

It says in Joel and Acts that ” in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.”  That prophecy was fulfilled in a small way as Abby Damon grabbed a microphone and told the students a vision that she had had…basically a warning about the warfare going on over all of our hearts and a plea to be given a new one when the world grabs a hold of it.  The Spirit continued to flow as the word was confirmed by Rebecca Berthet, and then Pastor Christopher grabbed hold of it and ran with it.  The lights were never even turned on that night.  As a continuation of worship, Pastor Christopher spoke some words of inspiration and instruction, then had the students go pray for one another.  The front was filled with little huddles of students praying with power and authority.  Be assured that things in the heavenlies were shaken this night!  And never underestimate the power of a simple “yes” to change the direction of an evening!

33 Live: The Banqueting Table

This week at 33 live there was a guest speaker from Syracuse, NY; Pastor Rich. Pastor Rich has served faithfully as a youth pastor for seventeen years at his home church. The topic of his message was “God yearning for you.” It was an incredible blessing to have Pastor Rich with us; he not only brought the Spirit of God with him, he also brought a new perspective on spending time with God.

One of most commonly asked question is, “What is my purpose here?” As a Christian, we have the answer, and it is to have a relationship with God. However, as our guest speaker put it, there are two parts to an individual’s purpose. Number one is to “Love God.” Number two is to “Reach people.” These parts, which often get thought of as separate, should be thought of as steps. In other words, you can’t reach people without first loving God. So, where do you start? In such simple words Pastor Rich says, “Just accept the invitation to the banquet table.” The metaphor used was the one that God has prepared a feast for you, which He has. But imagine: instead of food to feed the body, it is food to feed your spirit.

The message continues with this: if you want more joy, it’s waiting for you at the table, or if you have too much stress and you feel alone, come to the table, to God, and He will be your strength and never leave you. So, what could be keeping you? There are three main things: time, shame, and familiarity. A quick statistic that will blow your mind is that people spend almost a decade of their life watch the TV, but the average Christian spends ten minutes per day with God, which adds up to only seven months of his/her life with God .

Study it for you self:

33 Live: Taking Back Education

In the minds of Christian teenagers, the thought of taking over their schools with their report cards is not a frequent one. However, the lack of excellence in school is what causes us to lose our influence in one of the Seven Mountains; the Seven Mountains of Influence being Arts and Entertainment, Government, Family, [...]

Glorified Breath

Inspired by youth group on the night of November 4th.

Why do you follow me around?
When they attack you’re always there to be found.

I speak victory over you, the dark cloud above,
No longer will you keep me angry or sad.
With a deep breath I give you a mighty shove,
To darkness I break the bonds of being [...]

33 Live: An Unexpected Encounter

Anyone who has worked in ministry for any length of time knows that with much careful planning, you can have a good church service…and when you throw those plans out the window and say “God, come mess things up,” you have a phenomenal service. That statement epitomizes 33 Live on the evening of November [...]

33 Live: Peace, Joy, and a Hero in China

he warriors of 33 Live had a wonderful chance to regain their strength this last Wednesday. As soon as one walked in the sanctuary, a sweet spirit could be sensed. It started even with the faithful few that washed the place with prayer starting at 6:15pm. One walked in to the sound of Delirious gently singing about the hands of kindness that were scarred for us, and simple love and surrender in return. There was a sense of being still, reflecting, and being loved.
