Wildfire Weekend: Michael Tyrrell

Though Wildfire Weekend may not have looked exactly like what we are used to, or what we expected, it was a weekend with eternal impact. Having Michael Tyrrell in our church was truly an honor. He not only spoke continual encouragement over the congregation, but also challenged us in ways many didn’t think possible. Thinking was stretched, hearts were stirred, and passions were made ready for harvest.

On Saturday night, Michael had a special message just for the youth. After an anointed worship service, he delivered a thought-provoking illustration. He made to speak to the kids, but couldn’t seem to make any sound come out of the microphone, or his mouth. In mock frustration, he frantically searched high and low for something, looking lost, unable to speak. He then held up two signs: “Can you hear me?” followed shortly by, “I can’t find my voice!” Finally, the silence was broken by the statement, “That’s what we sound like when we give up our voice. Nothingness.” Again and again he pressed the youth on to not give up their original, organic voice…the kind of voice a dying generation is searching for. No echoes or cheap imitations.

He went on to talk about how anointing without character equals nothing, thus why many from our generation have failed to move forward in God while yet being passionate about Jesus. After many heightened standards and thoughts provoked, he ended with a prophetic encouragement that he is believing God for a second wind for the entire group. Everyone seemed to be filled to overflowing, and are still talking about the many great things that happened over the Wildfire Weekend. lt:
