We’re totally stoked to have the Julia Marie Band at New Life Christian Church on Saturday, March 22nd @ 7pm, sponsored by 33 Live. Come see one of the US’s top classical guitarists perform with her full band for one night only! From rock to folk to flamenco, Julia Marie, at just 17 years old, is one of the most remarkable phenoms to hit the stage in Jefferson County! She’ll also be making a special guest appearance at 33 Live Wednesday Night on March 19th (7pm), so make sure to invite your friends! Tickets for the Saturday night concert are just $5 (at the door only!). Don’t miss it!
Just a new video posted on YouTube filmed by the tech crew at the American Baptist Youth Conference this past weekend. I guess when I wasn’t looking, they snagged Spoon and filmed this amazing little clip of his masterful drumming. Check it out and let us know what you think! For those that don’t know, this is David Hulett, my drummer on tour for the Christopher Hopper Band.
We’re just writing from Saturate 2007 here in Lima, NY at Elim Gospel Church to give you a brief update for the annual international youth conference. So far everything’s been amazing! Pastor Adam McCain shared Thursday night about falling asleep in the midst of persecution and Pastor Christopher Hopper (yey!) shared Friday morning about our birthright of success. Isaiah 6 and hopeLight (pictured) have been leading worship, as well as a little by our very own Christopher & Jennifer. With well over 600 teens and over 100 leaders present, the excitement is very high and the presence of the Lord has been very strong, moving deeply in everyones’ lives.
We’ll be posting more pics, video and audio messages later.
Just want to let you know that the Video Library has been updated. We’ve added the old Video Journals from 2005 and will continue to upload some other videos we’ve had in the vault. Talk about a blast from the past!
Click above to go the Videos page, or use the menu nav bar at the top of the screen. The old Video Journals are listed under the Archives in 2005.
We are rescheduling The Quest for NEXT TUESDAY, October 30th, 6:45pm at the church. (Leaders still meeting at 4:00pm at the Hopper’s; please notify me for exceptions).
Pastor Kirk just reminded me that there is a Woman’s Meeting at the church this Friday; we try and hold to a very strict policy within New Life of not overlapping events, especially as woman’s meetings only happen 3 times a year and specifically ask for ladies ages 18 and up to attend.
Tuesday’s forecast is cloudy, and probably even better than this Friday (as rain is forecasted). Please advise everyone you know of the change.
Again, I apologize for the multiple changes. All I can say is next year, “September, here we come.”
“Ki-aye!” was all the audience heard as Paul Manfredi flipped through the air and slammed against the wooden floor of the church. Everyone was stunned, especially me, at having just flipped Paul using a special hold.
“This is an example of some of the disciplines you will learn,” Paul explained as he stood to his feet and brushed himself off to the cheers of the 94 students present at 33 Live’s October 10th meeting.
Paul, an instructor on staff at Empire Family Martial Arts in Watertown, was our guest speaker, brought in specifically to talk about the importance of learning how to discipline yourself both spiritually and physically. His talk on 40 points of discipline reflected Jesus in so many amazing ways and he did an excellent job incorporating his testimony. His talk was extremely encouraging to all those present, as well as challenging. And the added of effect of being tossed about the room was equally effective (and exciting!).
What one of his points meant the most to you?
Pastor Jim Shaw also shared, discussing our need as teenagers to begin to apply ourselves to discipline. He was wonderfully clear about how our future success depends on our present discipline.
Another powerful point he made was how, when we de-cide to do something, like in homo-cide and sui-cide, something has to die: our own fleshly desires.
What is one area of personal self-discipline that God has recently convicted you about?
